A Brilliant Book, bought this to give me some inspiration, and it has.

Full of easy to follow recipes for loads of familiar beers.

Great selection of lagers and ales from all over the place and incredible detail even down to water hardness. Amazing.

This “new” edition has been up-dated & revised somewhat by Roy Ekins who is respected in beer & wine circles. Some errors have been corrected but I’m still not happy with the Arkell’s Brown Jack recipe. The quantities of hops used have not been re-calculated, Dave’s original figures were sometimes a "little" erratic & the alpha acids of hops change from year to year, e.g. Hallertau hops possibly had around 4 or 5% alpha acid when Dave wrote the original book & to-day the figure is nearer 2.
I still find it an excellent book by one of the pioneers of modern homebrewing.

A good book, this combined with a few youtube videos is better than a guide (I have both this book and the joy of home brewing and regret buying the joy of home brewing). This is both an extract brewing book and a full mash book with good advice on equipment and also on mashing techniques. I like that the measurements are in metric and imperial also! If you are a complete beginner I would go to http://www.youtube.com/craigtube and look for his video on homebrewing and bottling (a four part series) which is just great and he uses a coopers beer that you can buy from here as well.
