It's like drinking pure glory- if you could distill the feeling of bursting through the ramparts and driving your flagstaff through the opposing kings armour-laden heart, that's the taste you'd get with this hambleton bard stuff. It needs time in the bottle though- I nearly ditched it at the 3-week mark after the first few bottles had no head or body and still tasted of the invert sugar I brew with. Three weeks later and I'm so gald I didn't- each mouthful is like an exploding airbag full of flavour. Salute to the bard! Written By: Jamie Jensen (30 July 2010) A really easy brew with fantastic results, 1st pint retained head to the bottom of the glass after only 3 weeks!!! And yes it does get better with age, had a party last night and now need to order another kit as it went down a storm. Written By: Steven Cole (29 November 2009) First time with this manufacturer.it brewewd quick enough in the bucket, but I was off on holiday and did'nt have enough bottles empty, so siphoned into a barrel with some more sugar. On return it was clear as a bell and tasted great, but flat. Then into bottles and three weeks later it's perfect, lovely rich taste and a good head. Written By: Michael Plummer (21 October 2009) Nice and easy to brew. Makes 40 pints for a tenner + sugar. What a bargain. 7 days to ferment. Make a good strong beer. Mines cleared well and holds a good head. Great tasting beer, cheap, looks like it's meant to. Buy it. Written By: Simon Bonser (01 July 2009) This is my first brew - returning after 20 odd years. How things have changed. I used brewers white sugar and added finings before racking into the barrel. After 3 weeks in the barrel the beer is light golden although not sparkling clear (in the old days we would just use a stone mug if the beer didn't clear properly). The result is .. well, superb! It is a very pleasant ale, not with a strong taste but it is quite strong. It has a very well rounded but not oversweet malty taste which reminds me of the venerable Brakspeare's Draft.
Great value and a kit I will use again and would wholeheatedly recommend to anyone.
